VIRGIN NO MORE
How can you be anti something until youve tried it?
Thats what Cheryl asked me as we were driving somewhere the other day. I was telling her that I had never even considered doing botox or plastic surgery or lipo or anything like that.
Dont get me wrong I want to look good Im just one of those people who think that so many women, and men for that matter get way too obsessed with these kind of procedures, finding and eradicating the miniest of wrinkles.
All that and I, um, might be a little chicken. Thats another thing that you could say held me backthe Fear Factor.
I had a opportunity last Friday to have a Botox injection. I took it.
Dr. Yves Hébert does an open house with a breakfast and a presentation of models who have undergone the treatments he specializes in at his clinic. I had to make a decision rather quickly, like right then and there thats how my conversation with Cheryl about botox even started. She also added; You may like it, but youll never know if you dont give it a go. or words to that effect. The model chosen had to come to the clinic the week before the event for the procedure apparently it takes a week or more for Botox to take effect.
I have a natural curiosity about lots of new things but I have to admit hearing the word Botox made all my old prejudices about collagen gone wrong and bovine toxins came sweeping in, and the fear started to take over, until I realized that this could be an opportunity to learn something new, and maybe take care of a nagging frown crease in the middle of my forehead.
Dr Hebért demystified a lot of things Botox is a very safe, short term procedure, it takes a week or two to come to its full effect, and lasts between 3 and 5 months. Its not for everyone, but if you think you might want to try it, dont wait till youre 60. Dont go expecting miracles, and find a doctor like Dr. Hebért with a good reputation who thinks conservatively and looks at your facial symmetry rather than his bank account.
I had 60 units injected into my forehead at a cost of $10-14 per unit – That can add up to $600+ per treatment, about 3 times per year. I guess thats about the same as a personal trainer in the end but this freelancer has a lot of other priorities right now, ( like heading to the gym and loosing some poundage!) so hand over that lifting cream!
This coming Saturday, April 9th from 9 11 am, Ill be at Dr Hebérts clinic to show the before and afters of my Botox. Along with the doctor himself, Dr. Hebérts partner, Simon and my cohort Cheryl will be there too, to help answer any questions about the variety of procedures there.
As for me, Ill be the gorgeous wrinklefree one eating all the croissants! ahem!
