Yup, Im one tough cookie! Managed to get through a sweaty, exhausting week in that hot room. Okay, maybe I whined.. dehydration was probably because of the extra holiday wine and chocolate I consumed ( bad, bad yoga girl!) but hey, pain or no pain, there was NO way I was giving those holiday goodies up!
Someone asked me yesterday why Im doing this. 365 days of Bikram yoga is at least ambitious, if not completely, utterly insane. Heres why.
Im doing this 365 day Bikram yoga challenge as a way to raise funds for Because I am a Girl.
All the steamy details on this fundraising challenge are at hotyoga.ca!
Click on the link on the sidebar to the right. It takes you directly to my fundraising/sponsorship page on the Because I am a Girl site.
Because I am a Girl is an incredible organisation affiliated with Plan Canada that focuses on providing support for girls and young women around the world. Nourishment, education, and medical support goes to girls in impoverished situations in several different countries so they can get out of that dangerous cycle of poverty, which is typically so destructive to females in the world.
I hope to raise money so I can help to change the lives of these girls. My dream is that with your help, I can raise enough money to help at least 100 girls – so that these girls can go to school and get an education, and benefit their entire community. To help them avoid being married off too young, have babies as teenagers or get sold off as workers to help their families.
To do that, Ill need your help. You are people like me who believe that girls actually can make a difference in this world, who feel that gender equality is vital to a healthy and vibrant world.
I need sponsors, people like you who are willing to bet on my challenge being successful who will contribute 50 cents a day, ($183), a dollar a day ($365) or even 10, 20, 50, or 100 dollars. There are tax receipts available for all donations over $20 (and even those under you just have to ask!)
Im doing this crazy life changing Hot Yoga challenge because I believe in girls, and I dream of true gender equality, a world where girls EVERYWHERE are safe from harassment and harm, and they can grow up healthy, educated to become productive and inspiring members of their community.
You dont have to be a girl to believe in Girl Power!
